I learned as a bouncer to always de-escalate and be respectful. Its a numbers game after all, and you dont want to increase the number of fights you are involved with.
That said, you NEVER know who you are dealing with, or what they are capable of. One we had an incident with a ballet dancer and he decided to force his way in. I had no idea how physically strong a professional dancer is. We literally could not manipulate his limbs, and he was just swinging bouncers around the place. He never threw a single punch so we didnt either, but lets just say it was humbling been schooled by a guy who literally was a leotard an hour earlier.

Thank you mate. This dude didnt look much, but once the wrestling match started we could feel through his shirt that he had biceps like cannonballs. I guess he spends hours a day holding eight stone girls above his head so thats a pretty serious workout.
Not gonna lie though ... it was all the more humiliating because this guy was REALLY camp. Im talking "skips down the road whistling Queens songs" camp. NGL he could still throw me across a bar mind.
