"I have cliff jumped off of 28 meters (unfortunately after a few beers) and the fall time & impact is overwhelming. My equilibrium was super messed up and it felt like I had cracked my tailbone. How skilled you have to be to pull off almost a 200ft jump is next level..."

"Biggest one for me was 112’ (35m) and it ripped the soles out of my vans, bruised my feet, bruised my calves and my arms just from the friction/impact despite being just about perfect landing. Biggest front full/half twist was 94’ off a bridge at Folsom lake, broke my tailbone, won 200$ and the most painful lap dance ever on Memorial Day weekend."

"for all those who don't know: the waters surface tension is being reduced by flow and bubbles. usually such jumps have safety precautions like sunken grids oxygenating the water to break surface tension for the dive"

"The problem, if you are not aware, is that when you hit the water, the bottom of your shoes, if angled the wrong way can cause your leg from the knee down to shoot out in an undesirable direction with a lot of force. I ended up laying on the shore for about fifteen minutes in pain because one of my knees was Seriously hyper-extended. It's been 30 years since my jump and I still have a weak knee from it."

"I jumped off a 30' (9m) ledge into a lake at a bad forward angle. I didn't think a person could have the wind so violently knocked out of the lungs and not die as a result. Controlling desperate panic saved me from drowning, a skill learned while surfing."

"I really wonder if wearing the helmet wasn't a mistake. Hitting the water at 123Kmh feet first, he was instantly decelerated significantly, compressing his spine. An instant later, as he was probably still traveling at a speed in excess of 80Kmh, that helmet became an instant "aqau-parachute", causing more rapid deceleration. Firmly strapped to his head, he's lucky it didn't cause an Atlanto-occipital dislocation....effectively a separation of your skull from your spine while leaving your head attached to the tissue of the neck."

"Ex Navy here.....we would have quickie classes on proper abandoning ship, now being on a carrier, flight deck being way above 60 plus feet, if I remember right, about 80 or so....our instructor (a chief) said, "guys anything above 40 ft, if you hit wrong, you might as well jump onto a parking lot"."

"When I was in my 20’s me and some friends decided to jump from a train trestle. It’s was 68 feet (20m) from the track to the water. I remember looking down and thinking about the time I was on the Empire State Building and the distance looked the same. I jumped and had plenty of time to think. Unfortunately one of the guys in my friend group landed off center a good bit and had to be life flighted. Broken ribs, punctured lung, and bruised badly all over his upper body. Looking back on it I remember how dumb we all were."

"I live near Holcombe Quarry, search it, and it has heights of varying sizes.
Im a big dude with shoulders like a mountain gorilla and when I jumped of the biggest, I hit the water so hard it pulled my eye lids open and felt like it was sucking them out!"
